Gene W. Henssler, Ph.D.

Gene W. Henssler, Ph.D., is the President and Chief Investment Officer of Henssler Financial. The firm was founded by Dr. Henssler in March 1987 at the urging of friends and acquaintances who sought his counsel and advice for investing their money.

In 1998, Dr. Henssler started Henssler Asset Management, LLC to serve as the investment adviser for The Henssler Equity Fund (HEQFX) that was introduced to the market place that same year. The Henssler Equity Fund’s investment style is substantially similar to the investment style utilized for individual clients. Dr. Henssler serves on The Fund’s investment committee, which is supported by a group of research analysts and other members of the adviser’s investment staff.

After earning both his Master of Business Administration and doctorate in finance at the University of Michigan, Dr. Henssler taught at Georgia State University, University of Toledo and Grand Valley State University in Michigan. In 1986 he became a Professor of Finance at Kennesaw State University, taking an early retirement in 1996. Dr. Henssler holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Finance at Kennesaw State University.

Dr. Henssler was recognized by Barron’s Magazine “Top 100 Financial Advisors” at No. 65 in the April 15, 2013 issue. The ranking, as identified by Barron’s, reflects the volume of assets overseen by the adviser and his team, revenues generated for the firm, and the quality of practice. Dr. Henssler was named to the 2016 Atlanta Five Star Wealth Managers list included in the October 2016 issue of Atlanta magazine. The Five Star award goes to wealth managers who satisfied 10 objective eligibility and evaluation requirements, identified by market-specific research. This is the fifth consecutive year Dr. Henssler has made the list.

As a renowned professor in finance, Dr. Henssler was tapped by Atlanta talk radio to host “Money Talks,” an investment advice radio show. The show has aired for more than 30 years with a large following. Dr. Henssler has appeared on the network affiliate TV stations in Atlanta, Georgia Public Television, as well as nationally on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg Television and Fox News.

A former columnist for the Atlanta Business Chronicle, Dr. Henssler has written numerous articles for newspapers, magazines and professional journals dealing with a wide variety of financial topics. Dr. Henssler is a registered representative of ALPS Distributors, Inc.

Patricia T. Henssler, C.P.A.
Principal, Treasurer and Office Manager

Patricia T. Henssler, C.P.A., is the Principal in P.T. Henssler, C.P.A., LLC, a public accounting firm. It is affiliated with the Tax & Accounting Division of Henssler Financial. Henssler Financial is headquartered in Kennesaw, Ga., a suburb of Atlanta, with an additional office in the Atlanta Perimeter area.

Her previous background includes two assistant professor positions at both Grand Valley State College in Michigan and Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. She was a Senior Staff Tax Accountant with Bennett Thrasher, P.C. before forming her own C.P.A. firm.

Ms. Henssler received her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo, her Master of Business Administration from Michigan State University, and attended Kennesaw State University for credits necessary for Certified Public Accountancy. She is also a QuickBooks Desktop ProAdvisor®.

Ms. Henssler was named on the 2014 Atlanta Five Star Accounting and Estate Planning Professionals list in the October issue of Atlanta magazine. The Five Star award goes to tax consultants who satisfied 10 objective eligibility and evaluation requirements, identified by market-specific research. The survey considered 909 Certified Public Accountants, with 28 professionals named to the final list.

William G. Lako, Jr., CFP®
Principal, Managing Director

William G. Lako, Jr., CFP®, is a Principal and Managing Director at Henssler Financial. Since joining the firm in 1995, his responsibilities include personally managing client assets, as well as overall company management. In 1998, Mr. Lako became Principal and Managing Director of Henssler Asset Management, the adviser to The Henssler Equity Fund (HEQFX). Mr. Lako also serves as Vice President and Secretary of The Henssler Funds, Inc. Henssler Asset Management is a member of Henssler Financial. Mr. Lako is a member of The Henssler Equity Fund’s investment committee, which is supported by a group of research analysts and other members of the adviser’s investment staff.

Named to the Kennesaw State University Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Mr. Lako assists the Foundation’s mission to serve as an advocate for the university and to receive, invest, account for, and allocate private gifts and contributions. He is an Executive in Residence at the Coles College of Business where he lectures on personal financial strategies to prepare students with applicable knowledge for their financial success. Mr. Lako was honored as a recipient of the 2010 Kennesaw State University Alumni Association Distinguished Alumni Award. He also played an integral part in launching the Coles College of Business Student Managed Investment Fund in 2006. Mr. Lako also serves as the Treasurer for the Marietta Country Club and is an active member of the club’s Board of Directors.

Mr. Lako contributes to the Marietta Daily Journal as a Business Columnist. His opinions also have been requested by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Atlanta’s CBS affiliate and national news features. Mr. Lako is an anchor host on “Money Talks,” Henssler Financial’s weekly talk radio show, that airs on AM 920 The Answer in Atlanta.

Mr. Lako received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Finance, from Kennesaw State University. He holds the Series 7, Series 26, Series 28, Series 63 and Series 65 registrations. Mr. Lako is a  CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certificant. Stacy Haubenschild
Chief Operating Officer

Stacy Haubenschild serves as Chief Operating Officer for Henssler Financial. Specializing in project management and process improvement, Ms. Haubenschild is responsible for overseeing the firm’s ongoing operations to ensure business efficiency. As part of Henssler’s management team, she collaborates with others to develop and implement plans for Henssler Financial’s operational infrastructure, work flow processes and key personnel to accommodate the firm’s growth. Ms. Haubenschild works closely with each department director to implement the growth strategies and benchmarks set by each department. She also ensures the individual goals from each division work in concert toward attaining the firm’s short-term and long-term goals.

Along with the firm’s Managing Director, William G. Lako, Jr., CFP®, she leads the management team and guides all divisions within Henssler Financial. Ms. Haubenschild joined the firm in 2007 as Director of Operations, overseeing the measurement and effectiveness of internal and external processes.

Ms. Haubenschild also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Center for Family Resources, a multi-function human service organization, serving the needs of Cobb County families. The Board of Directors ensures more than $3.1 million in donations and revenue are reinvested in programs that help families move away from homelessness and poverty into self-sufficiency.

Prior to joining Henssler, she worked for seven years in the health care industry performing project management, implementing electronic medical record software and executing quality assurance initiatives. She managed a multi-specialty clinic with more than 100 employees.

Ms. Haubenschild has a Bachelor of Science - Physical Education from The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She is currently enrolled in the Charles Schwab Executive Leadership Program, an elite training program that focuses on developing leadership, innovation, talent management, strategic marketing, and entrepreneurship skills to help leaders to manage and grow their firms.

Jennifer J. Thomas, CFP®

Jennifer J. Thomas, CFP®, is a Principal and Senior Managing Associate at Henssler Financial. Ms. Thomas joined the firm in 1994 and is responsible for overseeing all the activities of the Associates, Financial Planners and Assistants in the Planning & Implementation Department.

Ms. Thomas was named to the 2016 Atlanta Five Star Wealth Managers list that will be included in the October 2016 issue of Atlanta magazine. Mark Mathews
Business Development Director

Mark Mathews serves as the Business Development Director at Henssler Financial. As Business Development Director, Mr. Mathews focuses on identifying and strategically assessing opportunities to create long-term value for the firm. He works closely with firm managers to engage new clients, improve business relationships and ensure existing clients stay satisfied by developing services that meet or predict Henssler clients’ future needs. Additionally, Mr. Mathews currently serves as the firm's representative on the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Cobb County Safety Village Foundation board, in addition to participating as a member of the board on the Atlanta Regional Commission, as well as the Cobb Competitive EDGE. Mr. Mathews also preserves and promotes the Earl Smith Strand Theatre as part of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Prior to joining Henssler, Mr. Mathews served as Mayor for the City of Kennesaw from 2008 through 2015. As Mayor, he presided over all City Council meetings and executed contracts, deeds and other official documents as authorized by the City Council. While Mayor, Mathews also worked as Government Relations Manager for Metro Atlanta Ambulance Service. Mr. Mathews has been involved in the community since 1996. He has served on the boards for the Kennesaw Downtown Development Authority, the Kennesaw Development Authority and Kennesaw City Council, as well as numerous boards and committees throughout the Atlanta region. Additionally, he worked for his family’s Marietta flooring business, becoming President after purchasing the business from his father.

Mr. Mathews earned certificates of Recognition, Achievement, Excellence, and Distinction from the Harold F. Holtz Municipal Training Institute. He also completed the Leadership Institute for Municipal Elected Officials, as well as the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute.
